What is Consignment? Consignment is a way to sell your items that you no longer need or want. Once the item sells you are paid by the consignment shop the following month. The shop receives 60% of the selling price and the consignor receives 40% of the selling price. If your item does not sell then you receive no payment.
What kind of items do you take? We accept gently used and new ladies clothing in size 0-18. All clothing must be current (within the past 2 years) and clean. We accept Spring/Summer items from February through August and Fall/Winter items from September through January. We prefer that your items are brought in on hangers. We will return your hangers if you wish. We also accept shoes, handbags, jewelry, and accessories in excellent condition.
What brands do you take? By no means is this a complete list, but here are some of the designers that our customers seek out: Bebe, BCBG, Cache, White House/Black Market, Gucci, Tory Burch, Juicy Couture, Lucky Brand, True Religion, Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Escada, St. John Knits, Tadashi, Betsey Johnson, Nicole Miller Collection, Sue Wong, Theory, Versace, Armani
Do you buy clothing? We do not buy clothing outright. We have found that our consignors receive a better return on their item when they put it into consignment rather than being purchased outright.
Do I need an appointment to bring in clothing? While no appointment is needed, we suggest that you call first to make sure that we are accepting new consignors. From time to time we may not be able to accommodate new consignors. By calling in advance, we can also make sure that we are able to help you promptly when you arrive. We prefer that clothing is brought in Monday through Friday as we are open limited hours on Saturday and are quite busy.
How do you determine the correct price for my item? Both owners of A Bella Boutique have extensive retail experience. We research items on the internet to insure that items are priced correctly. A general rule of consignment pricing is that the item starts at 30-40% of the original retail price.
What happens to my clothing at the end of the 90 day period? You have 7 days past your 90 day period to pick up your unsold clothing. Please call in advance so that your unsold items can be pulled from the selling floor. At the end of those 7 days, your items become property of A Bella Boutique and are typically donated.
How do I get paid? You are encouraged to contact the store by telephone (407-629-2007) during the first week of the month to see if any of your items were sold the previous month. Checks are available the second Monday of each month. You may also elect to take payment in the form of store credit. We allow our consignors to switch their payment from month to month and do not charge a "check fee" if you choose the check option. We do not call our consignors to let them know that a check is available nor do we mail payments.
Do you take vintage items? We do not take vintage clothing. However, we do take vintage handbags, jewelry, and accessories. Estate items are typically not discounted following the normal markdown schedule.
